For The Session #10 – The Sweded Session we designed and printed 17 unique t-shirts with messages, translated into Swedish, taken from the 1988 science fiction movie ‘They Live’ directed by John Carpenter. In the movie the main character finds a box of sunglasses, that when being used, reveal that all printed matter around him contains subliminal advertising. See the moment of revelation here. The theme for The Sweded Session is borrowed from the 2008 movie ‘Be Kind Rewind’ by Michel Gondry, were films that were erased and recreated are referred to as having been “sweded”. The Sweded Session took place at gallery Krets in Malmö, Sweden, January 2010.
