Poster

We printed this poster on the occasion of our exhibition at MZIN and a lecture we gave at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, both in Leipzig/Germany. Some time ago our studio mate Paul Gangloff wrote a quote with a black marker on a fluorescent yellow piece of cardboard, the kind that is traditionally used to display prices and special offers in shops and supermarkets: “Quality remains long after price is forgotten.” He had seen it on a wooden board in a garage in his neighborhood. When we tried to find out more about the quote we figured that it has a somewhat mysterious origin: it is, amongst others, credited to Benjamin Franklin, F.H. Royce (the founder of car manufacturer Rolls Royce) and the writer Leon M. Cautillo, in slight variations. Furthermore it is the Gucci Family slogan and the motto of about every company producing overpriced goods. Using it on the poster announcing an exhibition of our work, we like it for its vagueness and the many ways it can be read, not only because showing Graphic Design works in a gallery is a strange thing to do.
